The chief classical music critic of Reforma, Mexico's leading newspaper, calls their performance of Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini so electrifying that he couldn't sleep that night.
November 20 Abdiel performs with the world famous Simon Bolivar Orchestra of Venezuela, the staple ensemble of the renowned music education program in this country known as El Sistema.

October 4 Abdiel returns to Carnegie Hall to perform a recital with soprano Anastasiya Roytman and clarinetist Julian Milkis.
Among a program that included two world premieres, Wagner's Wedendonck Lieder, and Mahler's Ruckert Lieder, Abdiel played solo Tausig's transcription of Wagner's Liebestod, of which a reviewer acknowlegded it was "an arrangement we had never heard before but long to hear again as it has been echoing in our mind's ear all night."
Meanwhile in Mexico, Abdiel is featured in Vanity Fair.
Septembre 25, 26, and 27 In typical Abdiel fashion, the weekend in which he was supposed to perform his new recital "Dreams: Piano Transcriptions of works by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff" at the prestigious Blanco y Negro Festival in Mexico City, he is called at the last minute to perform Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto with the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra - a three hour flight from Mexico City.
Abdiel performs in Yucatan on Friday night, flies to Mexico City on Saturday morning to play his recital, and returns to Yucatan early on Sunday to play the matinee performance with the orchestra.
About his recital, the press praised his sensitivity, technique, quality, and musical clarity.
About the Rachmaninoff concerto, the a journalist ended his enthusiastic review with the sentence: "Thank you Abdiel, for your excellent performance. We hope to see you in Merida again very soon."
September 11 and 13 The long awaited World Premiere of Juan Pablo Contreras piano concerto "The Sun Pyramid" takes place with great success with the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico at the ever imposing Bellas Artes Palace in Mexico City, with maestro Carlos Miguel Prieto at the podium. A memorable weekend in Abdiel's life.
August 18 What was supposed to be the start of the season for Abdiel ended up being a dramatic event: seconds before starting a performance of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto with the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra, chief conductor Enrique Batiz collapses on stage due to a loss in blood pressure.
The concert had to be postponed and the paramedics called. Fortunately, maestro Batiz is undergoing a swift recovery, and Abdiel will have be performing Rachmaninoff's Paganini Rhapsody with him and his orchestra in December.
July 14-29 To continue the summer tradition of working with opera singers, Abdiel joins the faculty of Artescenica, a prestigious summer program in Saltillo, Mexico, where young singers and pianists come together for a series of masterclasses, lessons, and performances.
During this time Abdiel not only has the opportunity to conduct scenes from Puccini's La Boheme and Mozart's The Magic Flute; he also gives a masterclass to pianists, and manages a one night escapade to Mexico City to appear on Martha Debayle's famous radio show and perform in the inaugural event of Taittinger's new champagne: Nocturne.
June 18 - 21 A short trip to Mexico City to perform with the Bellas Artes Chamber Orchestra one of the staples in Abdiel's repertoire: Manuel Ponce's Piano Concerto.
He also took some time to talk to the press, and his interviews were featured in the social magazine Club Reforma and the prestigious newspaper Excelsior.
May 21 The Foreign Policy Association hosts its Annual Dinner at the Pierre Hotel in New York City.
Chairwoman Daisy Soros presents the guests with a gift: a special performance of tenor Benito Rodriguez, mezzo Alejandra Gomez, and Abdiel, right after maestro Alan Gilbert, artistic director of the New York Philharmonic, receives the Foreign Policy Association Medal.
May 15 and 17 Abdiel is called at the last minute to perform Prokofiev's 1st Piano Concerto witht the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra and renowned conductor Enrique Bátiz.
The first night Abdiel plays Tchaikovsky's Pas de Deux from the Nutcracker in Pletnev's arrangement as encore. For the Sunday matinee concert, Abdiel plays Ponce's Intermezzo following the long standing ovation.
May 7 The World Economic Forum for Latin America takes place at the prestigious Grand Velas Riviera Maya in Mexico, from May 6-8.
The night of May 7 the President of Mexico and his wife host a gala dinner for all the guests and Abdiel is invited to perform solo and with tenor Rodrigo Garciarroyo.
April 20 WQXR and David Dubal curate the concert 'The Piano in Spain', where Abdiel is invited to close the program with a performance of Turina's Orgia.

April 11 A very special day. The Mexican Consul in New York Sandra Fuentes, and the president of SIVAM (Mexico's Young Artist's program) Pepita Serrano organize a private dinner and recital in honor of maestro Placido Domingo.
SIVAM has minted some of Mexico's greatest singers, including Rolando Villazon, Arturo Chacon, David Lomeli, and Maria Katzarava.
Tonight the concert featues tenor mezzo-soprano Alejandra Gomez, tenor Benito Rodriguez, and baritone Jorge Espino.
March 24 This month Abdiel starts an official collaboration with Yamaha in Mexico as a Yamaha Artist. Their first event together is a showcase in Monterrey, where Abdiel performed Tchaikovksy's Nutcracker Suite in Mikhail Pletnev's arrangement.
That afternoon though, Abdiel took some time to go and do a workshop for young singers and pianists at the conservatory.
March 4 2015 is the dual year of Mexico in Great Britain and Great Britain in Mexico. To inaugurate the string of events taking place during this dual year, the President of Mexico, his wife, and all members of his cabinet make an official visit to London.
On this day, the Lord Mayor of the City of London offers the Mexican President, his entourage, and 700 other guests a banquet and a private recital by Abdiel Vazquez and star soprano Maria Katzarava at the prestigious Guildhall.
February 26 A last minute performance of Beethoven's 4th Piano Concerto with the Nuevo Leon University Symphony Orchestra and guest conductor Lanfranco Marcelletti is met with great reviews from the press.
The headline reads: "Abdiel dazzles with his talent". The reviewer mentions Abdiel's recent performance last October with this same orchestra of Ricardo Castro's Piano Concerto, where he showed his "high interpretive level". In the Beethoven however, Abdiel "dazzled with an extraordinary talent... quite did justice to the score, achieving a balanced and crystalline reading in the classical style, without leaving aside the introspective and romantic character, the Beethovenian spirit, specially in the central movement, and reaffiring his virtuosic level in the rondo vivace."
The concert was the ninth installment of 'Musical Louisiana: America's Cultural Heritage' presented in collaboration with the Historic New Orleans Collection.
The performance is a great success, and mtro. Prieto announces Abdiel's encore piece: Ponce's Intermezzo.
January 23 and 25 Abdiel opens 2015 with two performances of Ricardo Castro's Concerto at one of Mexico's most beautiful halls - the Degollado Theater in Guadalajara - with the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra and young and upcoming conductro Ivan Lopez Reynoso.
The applause on Friday brings Abdiel back to the stage to perform one encore - Rachmaninoff's Floods of Spring in Earl Wild's piano arrangement.
On Sunday, the audience brings Abdiel twice back to perform two encores - Tchaikovsky's Pas de Deux from The Nutcracker in Mikhail Pletnev's arrangement, and Manuel Ponce's Intermezzo.
The press noted that the audience's satisfaction with Abdiel's interpretation that he provoked 'waves of applause' towards him.
January 7 A major newspaper in Mexico, Excelsior, features Abdiel in an in-depth article about the upcoming world premiere of Juan Pablo Contreras' piano concerto 'The Sun Pyramid'. The journalist stresses the point that Abdiel is considered by specialists to be currently the best Mexican pianist.
January 7 Like every year, Mexico's main newspaper Reforma publishes its critic's Lazaro Azar's column on the best of 2014 in music. Two of Abdiel's performances are mentioned: the Mexican premiere of Samuel Barber's Piano Concerto with the UNAM Philharmonic Orchestra and Carlos Miguel Prieto, and the performance of Ricardo Castro's Piano Concerto at the Cervantino International Festival.
This is the third year in a row that Abdiel's performances make it to this exclusive list.
